Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is one of India’s leading public interest research institutions, known for its rigorous scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental issues. Engaged with the thermal power sector since 2015, CSE has now begun to look at the energy transitions and its impact on the thermal power. In this regards, CSE is looking for a Programme Officer to work in the Energy group.
The candidate will lead research and advocacy on the energy transitions, pushing for economics of power generation that is affordable and sustainable. The candidate will report to Programme Manager (Energy).
The candidate will carry out research through both primary data collection, secondary literature studies and economic analysis. Work will also include understanding the economics of old thermal power plants versus newer units, and advocating their closure through suitable policy measures to address them.
The candidate will lead the energy team’s advocacy effort through various channels. He/she will be responsible for dissemination of the team’s research through active engagement with policy makers, think tanks, and civil society. The candidate will represent CSE at energy meetings/conferences and communicate with press, television and electronic media. He/she will need to follow regulatory and technical developments in India as well as in other countries, critique policy changes for internal discussions and give feedback to relevant stakeholders including the Govt.
Location: The candidate will be located in CSE’s New Delhi Head Office.
