State of Extreme Weather in India

Numbers don’t lie. In 2024, India experienced extreme weather on 88 per cent of days, causing 3,472 deaths and affecting 4.07 million ha of crops— a sharp rise from 2022 and 2023. Additionally, the country experienced 5.4 million internal displacements across 27 states and UTs, with Assam bearing nearly half that burden.
