Such a Toxic Journey

1996. CSE published a seminal study called Slow Murder — the deadly story of vehicular pollution in India. At a time when Delhi’s air was black with smog. A time when people did not know this air was a slow death, burrowing into them.

2025. Delhi’s air, if not black, is a dense, thick grey with smog. So is that of many other cities in India. This time, we know what it is doing to us.

But what are we doing about it?

Slow Murder continues. Join our stalwart air pollution trackers as they recount where we went off the tracks, among other things. Let’s look at what we’ve learnt, what we continue to ignore, and why India’s fight for clean air remains one of its toughest battles.
