Training Programme on 'Sustainable Buildings - Policy & Practices' for Architects and Engineers of CPWD

Date: 3rd -5th October 2012

CPWD, the Central Public Works Department is responsible for building and maintaining public infrastructure including office and residential buildings. As the construction industry evolves, CPWD keeps revising its standards and practices for building construction.

In line with government policy to take action on mitigating climate change, CPWD has committed to build green. CSE, with its deep interest in policy change, has been supporting CPWD in training its engineers, architects and horticulturists on green building principles and practices.

A three day training programme on 'Sustainable Buildings-Policy & practices' with focus on regulations such as EIA, Energy Conservation Building Code and compliance options is being conducted jointly by

CSE from October 3-5, 2012 at the CSE exclusively for CPWD's officers. The training gives an overview of green building policy, and addresses the energy conservation aspects in detail, including computer based simulation tools for quantifying the energy performance of building designs, sessions on affordable housing a, green building material and talk by eminent architects, . Site visits to renowned green building in Delhi – NCR are also part of the programme to demonstrate the best practices at work.

  • Environment Clearance requirements of MoEF for large building and township projects

  • Energy Code Compliance – Prescriptive Approach

  • Climate Responsive Design for buildings – an approach for Energy Conservation

  • Energy Code Compliance – Performance Approach

  • Software demonstration for Energy Code Compliance checking and design optimization.

  • Green building materials

  • Affordable housing- how to build green yet affordable homes

  • Guided building tours and site visits to green building in Delhi - NCR.

Dates & Venue

The course is exclusively for Architects and Engineers in CPWD and will be offered at CSE office, 38, Tuglakabad institutional Areas in New Delhi from 3rd -5th October 2012. Sessions would be from 1000 – 1700 hrs.
