Capacity Building Training Programme on "Development of Terms of Reference (Mining and Industrial sector)

National Environment Management Council, Tanzania is organizing a Capacity Building Training Programme on “Development of Terms of Reference(Mining and Industrial sector)” on 22nd January, 2024 at NEMC Office, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. NEMC has invited CSE as a faculty in the training. This training is first of its kind in Tanzania where government, consultants and industries and will be coming together.

CSE and NEMC have been working towards strengthening the environmental impact assessment regime in Tanzania. Under this regime – a ‘Terms of Reference’ for mining and industrial development projects were released during January 2023.

The purpose of these ToRas is to enable the project proponentwith the support of environmental experts to do proper planning and designing of an EIA. A ToR is designed to provide a format and structure for the EIA report, especially on the data required, to ascertain the impacts of the project on people and the environment. 

The capacity building training will help improve the quality of the EIA report and facilitate the review and decision-making processes.
