Round Table: Demystifying E-mobility in Odisha: Strategies for Implementation

Centre for Science and Environment under its sustainable mobility programme organised a roundtable discussion on “Demystifying E-mobility in Odisha: Strategies for Implementation”. The main objective of the programme was to conduct comprehensive stakeholder consultation for electrification of the three-wheeler segment in Odisha. In this discussion, around 45 participants from several state and city level departments including Commerce and Transport Department, Works Department, Odisha State Pollution Control Board, Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited, Odisha State Road Transport Corporation, Capital Region Urban Transport, Bhubaneswar Development Authority, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, among others participated in the discussion. During the discussion the forum agreed upon multiple challenges for implementation which includes coordination among departments/ implementing agencies, concerns regarding cost of vehicles, technology, and charging infrastructure etc. However, they stressed upon overcoming these challenges with an integrated approach of addressing the ground level issues concerning all agencies and service providers. This will also require fiscal and regulatory support from the government to make it successful.
