Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites you for a conference and exposure visit in Jaipur, organised jointly with the Directorate of Local Bodies, Government of Rajasthan and the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT). The subject is Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste and Dust Management.
Ever since the C&D Waste Management Rules came into effect in 2016 and the National Clean Air Programme and XV Finance Commission recommendations began pushing for clean air, many Indian cities have developed infrastructure to manage C&D waste and dust. The new Environment (Construction and Demolition) Waste Management Rules, 2025 have increased accountability with a focus on performance and outcomes placed by an Extended Producer Responsibility and a targeted waste utilisation framework. Cities now need to revisit and assess their C&D waste and dust ecosystem to integrate the changes that will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
This programme is designed for city-city learning from good practices and the next steps to address the systemic and market changes. The deliberations are aimed at engaging urban local bodies and practitioners in Rajasthan to adopt the learning curve and reprioritise keeping in view the new rules while they design their own C&D waste and dust management ecosystems. The programme involves an exposure visit to the C&D waste recycling plant in Jaipur for practical understanding of the processes, output and challenges that are necessary to push cities towards clean air and material circularity
