Technology transfer is central to the global green transition, but access to technology does not automatically translate into domestic capability. For developing countries, the challenge extends beyond acquiring clean technologies. It is about gaining the knowledge, skills and institutional capacity to adapt, improve and eventually innovate on them.
Technology Transfer for the Green Transition reviews the literature and selected North–South and South–South experiences to examine how technology moves across borders, through licensing, foreign investment, joint ventures, acquisitions, cooperative R&D and procurement arrangements. It explores the conditions that determine whether these transfers build lasting domestic capabilities or create new forms of dependence.
