Mainstreaming thermal comfort in affordable housing

A training on 'Mainstreaming thermal comfort in affordable housing' was conducted at AAETI from 26th to 29th November. The 28 participants represented a diverse group belonging to architects and engineers from CPWD, researcher, as well as academia from architectural and planning colleges from the states of Telangana and Karnataka where CSE is working on the issue of thermal comfort in affordable housing. The four day training took a deep dive into topics of planning challenges, environmental Impact assessment compliance, india cooling action plan, urban heat island effect and design of affordable housing projects with the help of lectures, case studies, site visits and hands on simulation exercises on BIM and energy simulation softwares.


CSE's research on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the challenges that lie ahead in affordable housing sector was presented along with the research 'Optimizing the third skin' taking into consideration thermal comfort and energy efficiency vis-a-vis the upcoming building material technologies.
