Cities and sustainable transport: Planning and design for electric mobility, public transport integration and upscaling accessibility and demand management measures

Several policies, programmes and schemes of the Government of India as well as State Governments in the transport sector require implementation of a range of mobility solutions related to vehicle fleet electrification, integrated public transport, accessible and walkable cities, transit-oriented development, vehicle restraint measures like parking policy, financial strategies and traffic impact assessment of new development. These new generation policy measures that are already in place require deeper understanding of their design for effective implementation in different zones/areas/wards and also city wide. This will also help to leverage the implementation of clean air action plans, climate action plans, among others.

In view of this the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organising a 4-day training programme for officials from concerned departments/agencies and organisations to exchange and deepen the collective understanding of the issues, planning and design techniques. This programme includes detailed classroom sessions, interaction with experts, classroom exercise, and exposure visits to deepen understanding of the multi-pronged strategies.

Course highlights

  • Imperatives of mobility and transportation action and framing the agenda
