Upscaling Bus-Based Transport Systems in India- with Special Focus on Electric Buses and its Deployment

This programme is particularly useful for all the cities who are already operating buses or planning to operate buses under various centrally sponsored schemes like “PM e-bus sewa” which primarily focus on deploying e-buses in medium and small cities, and “PM e-drive” scheme which focuses on expanding services in targeted cities.

The overall objective of the training programme is to enhance knowledge and capacity of the city/ public transit officials who are involved in operating and maintaining bus or e-bus operations or planning to introduce the bus or e-bus services for the first time in the respective cities.

This, specially curated training and knowledge sharing sessions will expose the participants to understand the nitty-gritties behind developing a well-served bus system for its citizen, including detailed operational and financial planning (from initiating services, developing routs, scheduling, assessing infrastructure requirements, bus maintenance practices etc.) for the sustenance of these systems, bottlenecks, key enablers, among others.

SCOPE AND METHOD OF THE TRAINING

The training is carefully designed for greater learning experience for the participant’s interaction with sector experts and practitioners, presentation of case studies, hands on exercise to internalize the understanding in to actions.

THE KEY MODULES OF THE TRAINING ARE

  • Operation planning and design - Route design and selection, planning & scheduling, performance monitoring, safe maintenance practices, with a special focus on electric bus deployments.
  • Learnings from first generation electric bus deployment - understanding the key challenges and benefits through city level case studies.
  • The current electric bus procurement process and how cities should prepare themselves for the transition.
  • Managing contract and conflict resolution
  • Understanding the use of ITS in improving service efficiency and monitoring.

Registration fee can be waived for government officials, NGOs and transport researchers*.

*Cost of travel from destination to Delhi and back to destination is to be borne by the participants or by the nominating authority.

The course fee is inclusive of travel from Delhi to the training institute, accommodation, food, resource persons and training kit.
