Deputy Programme Manager for Industrial Pollution Programme

Background 

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India’s leading public policy research institution is looking to expand its work on minimising industrial pollution. The industrial pollution team of CSE is working to reduce the environmental footprint of heavy industries and SMEs, prepare roadmaps for strengthening environmental governance and assist the stakeholders in the implementation of various developed strategies. 

CSE is looking for a Deputy Programme Manager for its industrial pollution programme. The candidate will workon sectors like environmental governance, industrial waste, circularity, environmental compliance for African and South Asian countries. The candidate should be willing to travel as well as engage with key government and other relevant stakeholders in order to have better understanding of the sector. 

Job description                                                                                                     

  • To do research and document information by using relevant government data sources amongst others;
  • Travel for ground surveys, meetings, workshops and similar activities
  • Develop strategies for various environmental issues;
  • Tracking and reporting developments on relevant issues;
  • Engage with regulators and other stakeholders;
  • To participate in relevant conferences, workshops and also conduct capacity building programme for various stakeholders; 

Qualification and experience 

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree inenvironment/ other engineering backgrounds with experience of working in the field of environment
  • Have experience of 5-7 years in areas of SME’s/ circular economy/ industrial waste;
  • Sound understanding on pollution issues and their management strategies;
  • Experience in engaging with relevant stakeholders from the government and industry;
  • Prior experience of working on environmental governance and policiesin Africa and South Asia will be an added advantage;
  • Strong analytic skills including quantitative research skills;
  • Good oral and written communication skills. 

Salary:Will be commensurate with experience and skills.
