RE Round Table 5 Wind Repowering in Tamil Nadu

India's progress in the renewable energy sector has been remarkable, but the focus has remained largely on solar energy, even as the wind energy sector struggles to maintain its base. Repowering offers an opportunity to enhance both capacity and utilisation factor at wind sites.

Following our National Round Table (proceedings available here) on repowering in the wind energy sector, we are now launching discussions to understand the issues and concerns with specific reference to the state of Tamil Nadu.

This Round Table, fifth in CSE's series of nine virtual renewable energy meetings, is expected to discuss the evolving role of the wind energy sector in Tamil Nadu, potential of repowering in the state, gaps in Central and state-level policies, similarities and differences with respect to other states, issues obstructing the repowering process, reasons for disinterest from stakeholders, financial and strategic attractiveness of such projects, and a way ahead.

We invite you to join the Round Table and look forward to seeing you as a participant in the discussions.

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is one of India's leading environmental research, advocacy and capacity-building organisations. Our renewable energy programme has been working extensively to help shape policies at national and local government level that lead to deployment of renewable energy technologies, build public awareness to strengthen energy access, and to facilitate optimum use of the natural resources.
