Trainings on District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Planning and Implementation

CSE conducted four-day training on District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Planning and Implementation from September 24-27, 2019. The training was for district and state level officials who are key DMF functionaries. There were participants from the states of Tamil Nadu, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh which included State DMF nodal officers, Deputy Collectors, Mining Officers and Officers from Zilla Panchayat and DRDA’s.


The training focused on DMF planning and its core areas such as approaches and significance of regulatory implications, developing need-based and long-term DMF plans, bottom-up planning and learning from existing local planning exercises, status of implementation of DMF with regard to DMF planning and administration and best practices from states and districts, requirements for public accountability mechanisms etc. The training also integrated a class exercise on DMF planning and a field visit to demonstrate watershed management practices and its impact on water availability and livelihoods.

The training culminated with participants presenting their learning and a plan for DMF based on the class exercise.
