TSU-Bijnor: IEC activities

IEC Program Conducted at Bijnor Nagar Palika Parishad

CSE’s Technical Support Unit (TSU) under the process of providing support to Bijnor Nagar Palika Parishad (BNPP) in achieving goals of implementing Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM), in Bijnor municipal area.

The unit, in presence of Executive officer, Bijnor and other officials launched and distributed a series of Information Education and Communication material with private emptiers. The purpose of these posters is to spread knowledge about different aspects of FSSM like safe practices of emptying and handling of faecal sludge (FS), standardization of transportation of FS and need for treatment and reuse of FS under the Sanitation Value Chain.

The targeted audience were sanitary supervisors and masons, workers, private desludging service providers and residents of Bijnor municipal area. These efforts of information would help locals to understand the repercussions of ill practice of management of faecal sludge until now and the need for FSSM. CSE and BNPP have come up with the appropriate approach to manage faecal sludge by practicing co-treatment of FS in the STP. The IEC posters would also urge locals to empty their respective septic tanks on regular basis.
