Working on AMR in Zambia

Given the complete curb on international travel and the attention of partner agencies in Zambia on the Covid-19 situation, the programme was able to still engage with key stakeholders such as Antimicrobial Resistance Coordination Committee (AMRCC), Zambia; Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL); and the Zambia Environment Management Agency (ZEMA). CSE is working with the ZEMA to develop an implementation framework for drug take-back and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and is engaging with the MoFL to develop antimicrobial stewardship guidelines for animals. The president and health minister of Zambia have acknowledged CSE’s efforts. The team was able to expand its AMR efforts also in Zimbabwe, by securing a collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC).
