Several media briefing workshops have been conducted by the unit till date. These workshops - national, South Asian as well as regional - have primarily aimed at demystifying key environmental issues for the benefit of the media, so that it gets a basic understanding of the subject.
This, in turn, helps the media report on the issues more effectively. The unit has organised workshops on water issues, global environmental governance, vehicular air pollution in the past, NREGA, sponge iron, ecology as livelihood and arsenic contamination in the past. Last year, the unit organised a major workshop on climate change with more than 100 participants from South Asia. It was attended by journalists from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives. A comprehensive book onthe politics and facts about climate change was published on the occasion of this workshop.
