Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites you to nominate and participate in this two-day  workshop on "How to manage information resources and communicate online using Drupal, the free & open-source web development platform for content management"  from 26-27 September 2013, at New Delhi.

This is a unique opportunity to learn from the experts at CSE with rich experience in developing and managing the India Enviromment Portal and Down To Earth Online built on Drupal, the Open-source web development platform for content management.

This specially designed workshop is for information professionals, so that they are competent enough to manage information resources (books, news clippings, articles, documents, reports, photos, videos, contact addresses), build and manage their website independently without extensive programming skills and technical support of  IT professionals.  This workshop will also empower you with knowledge to communicate  more strategically and intelligently about your outreach and communication plans with your IT team.

Few fellowships available for Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives.

Conducted by:

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) with more than 30 years of experience in managing thousands books, articles, news clippings, video films, photographs and contact addresses. CSE also has a rich experience in developing and managing these resourceful websites utilising open source tools and technologies

  • Know about integration with new media (social/digital) for web outreach and engagement (social media, discussion forums, newsletters...)

  • Monitor and measure performance of your  communication  - online magazine, websites, portal

  • Features and concepts of Drupal -themes, nodes, fields, blocks, menu, filters, taxonomy...

  • How to Install Drupal

  • How to Organise and Tag (index) information, Create specialised Taxonomies/Thesaurus

  • Create customised format for variety of information resources, Edit and Add content on your website independently - newsclippings, documents, reports, research papers, articles, photos, videos, contact addresses.

  • Key Drupal modules (important for beginners)

  • Drupal themes and best practices needed to create customised layout for  a website.

  • Information retrieval and search.

  • How to integrate new media (social/digital) strategically for web outreach and engagement (social media, discussion forums, newsletters...)

  • Web analytics to monitor and measure performance of your websites and communication strategy.
