Four days training on Effective Faecal sludge and Used Water management

CSE Programme Support Unit to Department of Urban Development (Government of Uttar Pradesh) in collaboration with Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (RCUES), Lucknow organized a 04 days training programme on ‘Effective Faecal Sludge and Used Water Management’ from 27th-30th, April 2022 at Lucknow.

The training will be attended by 25+ state/ municipal functionaries from different ULBs of Uttar Pradesh which included Executive Officers, District Programme Managers and Engineers from UP Jal Nigam, Jal Sansthan, Nagar Nigam and Nagar Palika Parishads.

First half of Day 1 had session on Uttar Pradesh FSSM journey by Pavan Kumar followed by Overview of SBM 2.0 Guidelines with specific focus on City Sanitation Action Plan (CSAP) and Sanitation value chain and FSM Planning taken by SumitaSinghaland related FS quantification exercise. Sessions in the second half of the day were taken by JyotiParsad on Tools and approaches for effective FSM and technologies.

Day 2 started with an online session on Co-treatment by Dorai Narayana followed by success stories by Dr. SumitaSinghal. In the second half, Vivek R. Jangde took the session on Technologies for Used water Management with focus on phytorid technology. Day ended with session on Resource recovery & reuse of treated water and dried faecal sludge by Debisha Sharma.

On Day 3 participants were taken to Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant at Unnao where they got the chance to see functional FSTP and the challenges associated with its operation & maintenance.

Day 4 was reserved for session on FSTP implementation protocols, SOPs for Operation & Maintenance and its monitoring by Praveen Nagaraja. Training was concluded with certificate distribution.
