Report on 5 Days IEC Program in Chunar

INTRODUCTION:

Five days IEC program was conducted by Nagar Palika Parishad Chunar with the technical support provided by CSE (Centre for Science and Environment) on Single use plastic, communicable diseases and Faecal Sludge and Septage Management.

As per  the IEC program ,our program was Scheduled from  29^th June 2022 to 3^rd  July 2022 .Our aim was to cover  Town Chunar and we have successfully managed to cover all  parts of the town to aware the people about various kinds of containment systems through pamphlets  and need for Scheduled Desludging as a necessity .We have covered more than 500  houses each day in groups by spreading awareness for the first two days and the rest three days we shared our time with School students giving them Information about Faecal sludge ,its management and importance of Scheduled Desludging, more than 2000 students were educated in this awareness program.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Rajpati Bais (Executive Officer, NPP Chunar) and Mr. Mansoor Ahmad (President, NPP Chunar).Also after the accomplishment of the event Mr Manish Mishra (Research Associate, CSE) was also awarded with the citation award for being a continuous technical support.

Visited two schools for a, awareness –one private school and one government school. Also visited govt campuses like Tehsil  hospitals and blocks.

Keynotes of Activity:

Main market to aware shopkeepers and customers to avoid using single use plastic and about communicable diseases. EO NPP Chunar requested all shopkeepers to take oath to avoid and stop the use of plastic bags also requested to all to get their septic tanks emptied on regular interval of three years.

Two schools one English medium and one Hindi medium were visited and the students were educated by EO and Chairperson of NPP Chunar regarding ban on single use plastic and Scheduled Desludging and Faecal Sludge and Septage management.
