State level workshop: From Infrastructure to Service Delivery Advancing Sustainable FSSM in Rajasthan

Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) in Rajasthan is at a juncture where it is transitioning from infrastructure development to sustainable service delivery. While significant investments have been made in setting up FSTPs, ensuring their effective operation, utilisation and integration into city-wide sanitation systems requires focused intervention. 

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organising a state-level workshop which aims to bring together all the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and stakeholders in Rajasthan on one platform to assess and discuss the ongoing initiatives in FSSM in the state. The workshop will try to bridge the gap between infrastructure and on-ground service delivery by addressing operational sustainability, institutional coordination and governance mechanisms. 

Experiences from other states will be shared as well, emphasising on occupational health and safety and strengthening of the IEC, BCC and monitoring systems. State government officials will be sensitised about operational sustainability and governance strengthening (including plant utilisation and rural–urban convergence).
