India-based think tank Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has been working with the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) of Uganda since 2020 on different aspects of water conservation. Uganda is now geared up to implement groundwater recharge structures and decentralised wastewater treatment systems for institutions across the country. The Ministry plans to develop model projects which would help the country develop and fine tune policies of water conservation.
In the light of this, CSE and MWE are jointly announcing a two-day capacity building Workshop and Training to support officials from relevant government departments and representatives from institutions, non-profits and the private sector. The event will be specially curated for practitioners and engineers involved in planning and implementation, or in facilitating funding for institutions that aim to invest in groundwater recharge and decentralised wastewater treatment systems.
The training will offer a mix of lectures and exercises based on real-time problems. Post-event, the CSE team will also support the engineers of MWE to initiate the work on groundwater recharge and decentralised wastewater treatment systems in two selected institutions in and around Kampala.
