National Media Briefing: Pre-CoP Climate Change 2018: What’s on the agenda?

New Delhi

It has been a year of calamities. Fearsome floods, cataclysmic cyclones, and heat waves that had half the world with its backs to the wall. Against this backdrop of extreme weather incidents, the world will be meeting – as it does every year – to discuss and debate the next steps on how to save itself. The forthcoming 24th Conference of Parties (CoP) is important in that sense – in it, nations would try to reach some decisions on how to implement the Paris Agreement fully.

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites journalists working in India to a one-day National Media Briefing on current science, negotiations, issues and concerns in climate change. The Briefing will aim to explain, among other things, the 2018 IPCC report, the phenomenon of extreme weather events, the path that climate negotiations have taken till this year, and the expectations from the 24thCoP. Journalists hoping to cover the Conference scheduled to begin in Poland in December will find this Briefing very useful.
