Three Days Specialised Programme on Clean Air and Sustainable Mobility for Cities

CSE is organising a three days specialised training programme on ‘Clean Air and Sustainable Mobility for Cities’ for regulators in New Delhi from March 2 – 4, 2016.

This is a specialised programme designed to help officials in developing strategies needed for sustainable transport. This workshop will focus on both the public transport and non-motorized transport modes.

This training programme will also specifically address bus transport, which is expected to play a crucial role in mobility transition in our cities. All cities have initiated public transport reforms to address the problem of congestion, road accident risks and air pollution. However, public transport ridership cannot be increased if walking and cycling access are inadequate and unsafe for last mile connectivity and integration. But there is very little awareness regarding the public transport system and network planning/design needed for such integrated approach for sustainable mobility for our cities.

This specialized training programme is designed to impart technical know how on the critical issues that need to be addressed to bring the required changes in our cities’ mobility scenario and to keep the public transport in step with the time.

This programme represents our initiative to promote efficient and user-friendly public transport that could allow greater flexibility, coverage, accessibility and cost effective travel for commuters as well will play significant role in reducing air pollution. This interactive forum will cover lectures/presentations and interactions on following wide range of subjects.

  • Clean air and mobility – An overview

  • Urban development and transport

  • Public transport system planning and operation

  • Planning for NMT inclusive transport

  • Universal designs for all road users

  • Design for multi modal integration

  • Case studies for last mile connectivity

  • Assessment of safety and accessibility

  • Hands on exercise for bus fleet estimation and frequency of number of buses on a route

Venue: Centre for Science and Environment, 41 Tughlakabad Institutional Area, New Delhi.
