Training programme on Environmental Impact Assessment in Buildings and Neighbourhood

The Sustainable Buildings and Habitat team launched and successfully concluded a new trainingmodule on Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) in Buildings and Neighbourhood. Participation from government organizations such as National Capital Region Transport Corporation, Administrative Staff College of India, CPWD, built environment colleges, environmental researchers, consultants, and urban practitioners diversified the programme and brought in rich insight.


Former chairman, CPCB, Mr. Paritosh Tyagi delivered a keynote on the background and evolution of EIA in the country. Further sessions included environmental governance for the built environment, baseline studies for EIA in buildings (land, air, water, waste, flora and fauna), low-impact water and waste management, energy management, emission modelling and risk assessment, Traffic impact assessment, ECBC (Energy Conservation Building Code) and government green buildings rating systems.

By the end of the course, the participants felt that that they were able to build a fresh viewpoint in dealing with environmental issues in their respective spheres of practice.
