The Uttar Pradesh State Septage Management Policy was approved by Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on October 22, 2019. This is a major win for CSE. The policy targets to improve public health and quality of waterbodies by the year 2023 with the focus on building septage treatment plants and regular emptying of septic tanks. CSE has been advocating for effective faecal sludge and septage management in the state, and had conducted a State Level Workshop in October 2018; it has also presented draft guidelines, conducted consultation meetings at the state level.
