Deputy Programme Manager/ Programme Officer/ Senior Research Associate - Sustainable Mobility

CSE is looking for bright, young candidates with a passion for working in sustainable mobility and a drive to bring a change in the ways in which society consumes resources and harms the environment in order to meet its everyday travel needs. Candidates are expected to have a knack for critical thinking and be self-organized about their work.

The selected candidates will be part of CSE’s team on "Clean Air and Sustainable Mobility Programme" that aims to improve air quality in cities through improvements in various contributing agents including transport systems, along with providing co-benefits linked to carbon savings, equity and safety.

Candidates having prior experience or demonstrable inclination towards working on sustainable mobility strategies will be given preference. 

Work Profile

  • Conduct studies relating to various aspects of clean and low carbon mobility.
  • Conduct in-depth studies on public transport systems/ non-motorized transport/ integration of public transport systems.
  • Prepare policy papers and briefs pertaining to emerging issues in sustainable mobility.
  • Coordinate logistics of stakeholder meetings and other activities organized by the team.
  • Contribute to CSE’s Down to Earth magazine through articles and blogs pertaining to CSE’s work on sustainable mobility. 

Competencies

Essential

  • Sound understanding of sustainable mobility practices.
  • Basic to advanced understanding of various aspects of transport planning and management, including travel demand modelling, parking, non-motorized transport, public transport systems, land use & transport integration and transit oriented development.
  • Software proficiency - MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Language proficiency - English (speaking, reading and writing) and Hindi (reading and speaking).
  • Ability to travel frequently and independently, if required.  

Desirable

  • Basic to sound understanding of design/ planning/ operations and management of bus systems/ non-motorized transport/ public transport integration.
  • Software proficiency – GIS, Adobe Photoshop / InDesign.
  • Language proficiency – Bangla/ Telugu/ other regional languages. 

Qualification and Experience

Given details below are flexible if the candidate is able to demonstrate a deep interest and capability in working on issues of sustainable mobility.

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning/ Civil Engineering / Economics or any other related subject

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in Transport Planning or related subject
  • Experience (2 to 6 years) in non-profit / consulting / academia / public sector in the field of urban mobility
