Regulation applicable to whole of India except few north eastern states
July 6, 2015: Environment ministry today released the draft fly ash notification, 2015. According to the notification, construction activities happening 500 km around power plants should use only fly ash bricks. This indirectly implies a ban on clay bricks and use of only fly ash based bricks whole of India except few north eastern states. (see. Map. Fly ash notification, 2015)
The notification also asks power plants to bear the cost of transport of ash up to 100 km for use in construction, roads etc. in case of private projects and up to 500 km for government projects.
