Indo - Africa Experience Sharing Workshop on Mine management and Compliance, India

Center for Science and Environment (CSE) conducted a hands-on eight days “Indo-Africa Experience Sharing Workshop on Mine Management and its Compliance” from 23rd to 30th October, 2018. Participants from different mining organizations from India and senior regulatory officials and delegates from 7 African nations such as Mozambique, Tanzania, Namibia, Ghana, Zambia, Swaziland and Botswana and one from Sri Lanka participated, this provided an opportunity to interact and learn from each other.


The programme was designed in such away where the participants from different African nations shared the applicable laws and regulations related to mining projects followed in their countries whereas the participants from different mining organization in India shared the best practices which they have adopted in mine management, reclamation, environmental initiatives, etc. and which can be easily replicated elsewhere.

The international participants were taken to Western Coalfields, Nagpur to showcase some of the best practices being implemented in opencast and underground mining, technical and biological reclamation, initiatives taken in CSR, etc.
