Lab Assistant at Environment Monitoring Laboratory, CSE

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is one of Asia’s leading research and advocacy organization working in the field of environment protection. CSE has set up a state-of-the-art laboratory for pollution monitoring, septage management and food contamination. The laboratory is situated at CSE’s residential campus at Nimli, Alwar, Rajasthan – about 100 km from Delhi and 60 km from Gurugram.

The Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipments for microbiology analysis and for the monitoring and analysis of air, water and food contamination, including Gas Chromatograph with Mass Detector (GC-MS) High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrophotometry (ICP-OES), CHNS analyzer, Real time PCR, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Bomb Calorimeter etc. 

Job profile 

We are looking for a responsible Lab Assistant to carry out sampling, testing, measuring, recording and analysing in cooperation with the rest of the team. The candidate will have experience in a laboratory environment and accuracy in order to assist in extracting reliable and valid results. The candidate is expected to: 

  • Sample collection
  • Prepare samples/specimens
  • Follow methodologies in carrying routine tasks
  • Research relevant topics and gather information/data
  • Adhere to correct procedures, policies and health/safety guidelines
  • Keep abreast of all industry developments and best practices
  • Document all activities, record results and insert/retrieve data
  • Maintain work area and equipment
  • Provide administrative assistance 

Qualification and experience 

FSM & Waste Water Laboratory Division  

Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years experience in reputed Microbiology/ Chemistry/ Environmental Lab.

The Environment Monitoring Laboratory has set-up a laboratory for Faecal Sludge/ Septage management. This lab is involved in the characterization of Faecal Sludge/ Septage, monitoring of decentralized wastewater/ faecal sludge treatment systems, conducting cutting-edge research and carrying out documentation on decentralized technologies and knowledge support on demonstration projects in targeted areas. 

Qualification – B.Sc in Biology or Chemical Science related field. 

Job Description: 

The candidate is expected to have: 

  • Proven working experience as a Lab Assistant
  • Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment
  • Computer literacy and experience with Laboratory Information Systems
  • Accuracy and close attention to detail
  • Strong analytical judgement
  • Current license or relevant certification will be preferred. 

Salary and designation will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
