Centre for Science and Environment and Environment Pollution Control Authority(EPCA) for National Capital Region

Invites you to

Conference: “Waste to resource: Addressing construction and demolition waste in cities”

December 23, 2013, New Delhi

Mega cities around the world generate about 1.3 billion tonnes of solid waste per year, and the Construction and Demotion(C&D) waste constitutes the largest volume of non-organic solid wastes, about half the solid waste generated worldwide.

In India, it is estimated that 48 million tonnes per annum of solid waste is generated, of which waste from Construction Industry accounts for 25% at 10-12 million tonnes.

Indian cities have just started recognizing the C&D waste as a major problem, as reusing this waste is illegal.

Centre for Science and Environment invites journalists to a day long conference to address the policy and standards gaps in managing the C&D waste and discuss how this can be recycled to be put back into construction work.
