How we rate an industrial sector?

The project was conceived in the mid- 1990s when Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) director Anil Agarwal visited the United States. He read about the work of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) called the Council of Economic Priorities (CEP), which rated the social and environmental performance of industries in the US.

Maintenance

To prevent leaves and debris from entering the system, mesh filters should be provided at the mouth of the drainpipe. Further, a first-flush device should be provided in the conduit before it connects to the storage container.

Mumbai municipality to induce rains; activists call it a sham torrential rains pounded Mumbai in the last week of June, but failed to help the city tide over the severe water shortage. The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai is now making frantic efforts to ease the crisis. On July 15, its standing committee decided to induce artificial rains through cloud seeding.
