Sub-Editor for Down To Earth

Down To Earth, launched in 1992, is India’s leading environmental publication. With both print and digital editions, we are committed to raising awareness about the politics of environment and development by bridging critical information gaps. Our stories are rooted in ground reportage—from villages, farms and forests to research labs, hospitals, industries and international negotiations—and include in-depth analyses of policies and regulations.

We are looking for a copy editor with an excellent command of English and sound editorial instinct—someone who is able to turn complex data and information into clear, compelling narratives. This position is for Down To Earth’s fortnightly print edition.

What you’ll bring:

  • Three to four years of editing experience in journalism or book publishing
  • Excellent language skills and a sharp news sense
  • Ability to handle long-form stories, from features to analytical pieces
  • Good understanding of environmental and developmental issues
  • Skill in shaping and visualising stories for print publication with clarity and flair
  • A background in science is an advantage
  • A collaborative spirit: we are a small, energetic team that values teamwork

Location: This position is based in Delhi and requires working from the office.
