Improving the Environmental Performance of the Foundry Sector in Rajasthan

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi -- in collabaration with the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) -- is conducting a state-level workshop on the foundry sector in Rajasthan. In 2022, CSE had done a study on the sector, and the findings were published in its report Improving the Environmental Performance of the Foundry Sector in Vishwakarma Industrial Area, Jaipur. CSE has found that the sector has an immense potential for cleaner production and for enhancing its material circularity.

The workshop is open to experts and representatives from regulatory agencies, government departments related to industrial development, foundry associations, industries and industrial consultants, research institutes and financial institutions. It will aim to discuss the options and pathways for reducing coke consumption, stack emissions and fugitive emissions; increasing circularity by reclaiming the sand; scientifically utilising the slag; and improving specific energy consumption of the sector by installing energy-efficient furnaces.
