Unlocking Circularity in ELT Ecosystems

Building on its ongoing work on waste tyre management in Africa, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is convening a two-day Pan-Africa workshop titled “Unlocking Circularity in ELT Ecosystems” on March 24–25, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The workshop will bring together regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders from across the continent to examine the growing challenge of end-of-life tyres (ELTs). Participants will also engage with lessons from pioneering countries such as Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa, while simultaneously exploring strategies to strengthen market demand for recycled tyre products, including applications such as crumb rubber modified bitumen (CRMB).

A key highlight of the workshop will be the release of CSE’s latest report, Stockpiles to Systems: Designing Functional ELT Frameworks in Africa, followed by discussions aimed at translating policy concepts into practical, country-level actions.

By bringing together diverse stakeholders on a common platform, the workshop aims to move the conversation from fragmented interventions towards integrated, system-level solutions for waste tyre management across Africa.
