Deputy Programme Manager for Water Programme

About the team:
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), is an established non-profit institution known for its rigorous and scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental issues. The centre is looking for suitable candidates to work for its Water Programme. The programme aims to establish policy principles, innovative technologies and implementation strategies for water and wastewater management – these efforts have been directed towards meeting the twin goals of laying foundation for water prudent society and adapting for climate resilience.

Job Profile:
The programme has a project focusing on target cities / states in river Ganga basin on capacity building and technical support in preparation of city sanitation plans (CSP) for effective septage / faecal sludge management. This involves handholding support in preparation of CSPs, developing model CSPs and technical support for planning, designing and implementing pilot faecal sludge and liquid waste treatment including re-use. In addition this profile requires monitoring, reporting of programme both internally and externally to donors.   

This is a mid-level, high-visibility and high-impact position reporting to Programme Manager that entails high-quality applied research and capacity development activities for mainstreaming best management practices aimed at promoting sustainable water/waste and effective faecal sludge management in both rural and urban context.

Qualification and Experience:
We need post graduate in planning, engineering, water, sanitation or environment related field with at least 5-7 years of work experience. Candidate should have experience of applied research and on-site field support advocacy and training. He/she should also have a good working understanding of other organizations groups, and individuals in the water and sanitation sector including government policies / reforms in both urban water sector. 

The candidate should be able to work in a tight-knit and dynamic team that works on wide range of issues related to urban and rural water management. He/she should have strong networking and liaisoning skills, willingness to travel and fluency in both written and spoken English/Hindi. 

Candidates with lesser experience (4-5 years) will be considered for the position of Programme Officer. 

The position is based in Delhi but involves frequent travel to target project towns/cities.
