About the training
Safe management of non-sewered sanitation systems has been in vogue, particularly in low and middle-incomecountries like India. However, Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) has gained traction globally, with ongoing advancements in research and methodologies. Hence, developing skills fortesting the quality of faecal sludge and its treated outputs as treated water and biosolids has become a key priority. This coursehighlights both basic and recent advancements in laboratory analysis of the physico-chemical andbiological parameters of faecal sludge, treated water and biosolids. Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) in collaboration with the Bill & MelindaGates Foundation (BMGF) on FSM in India has been extensively involved in FSM capacity building in India and global south east Asia. Domain experts and lab scientists from CSE’s EnvironmentMonitoring Laboratory (EML) will lead the sessions, providing hands-on training in lab analysisusing cutting-edge equipment and techniques. By focussing on practical learning, conducting experiments inthe laboratory, participants will gain valuable skills while working with the top-tierequipment and protocols. The training will take place at CSE’s residential campus in Neemli, nearAlwar, Rajasthan.
