Sustainability and Circularity: Mass-Value-Carbon

Date June 18-19 2019

Habitat Programme organized a regional workshop on June 18-19 in Kolkata on 'Sustainability and Circularity: Mass-Value-Carbon'. Around 50 faculty members from architecture, planning and other built environment disciplines participated in the event. These members represented colleges such as IIT Kharagpur, IIEST Shibpur, Jadhavpur University, Amity University, Aliah University among others.

The two-day deliberations commenced with a technical session discussing the need of deploying a circular approach to planing and design to maximize the utility of materials and minimize the emitted carbon. It was followed with techniques to manage water and organic materials in the built environment. Day two was dedicated to affordable housing and how to address thermal comfort, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in it. Hands-on Energy Conservation Building Code for residential buildings and daylighting simulation was also provided to the participants.
