Campaigns for better urban governance

First generation action has taken roots. The city is yet to meet the clean air standards. Policy decisions and action so far in the city Action on vehicles The city has introduced Bharat Stage Euro IV norms for vehicles in 2010 Pre-mix oil dispensers for 2 stroke 2 & 3 wheelers and to ban sale of loose 2T oil. Supply of 5 % ethanol blended petrol since 9 May, 2003.

Bangalore

Bangalore (Bengaluru) has witnessed phenomenal spurt with the rapid growth in the IT industry and other job opportunities in the city. This is exploding vehicle numbers. Cars today are as much as 90 per cent of the total registered vehicles in the city. Traffic volume has exceeded the designed capacity of the roads and there is barely any space left to park cars. Public transport is fighting for road space. The city needs urgent mobility transition….  

Campaigns on vehicular pollution

Nagrik Chetna Manch Nagrik Chetna Manch is a non-political organization and open to all citizens that came into existence on August 15, 1991. The Manch seeks issue-based support from the media and the public and networks with other like-minded NGOs to lend force to issues that the Manch takes up. Action:

Campaigns for bus and NMT users

Parisar Parisar is campaigning for sustainable urban transport. It has a special focus on walking and cycling facilities and promotion of public transport systems to alleviate the problems of congestion and pollution, and also help in dealing with issues such as climate change and dependence on imported fossil fuels. The city has implemented first generation reforms and clean fuel programs are running successfully. Many projects have been proposed to upscale the public transportation system in the city and the city’s future depends on the implementation and efficiency of these initiatives.   Action on vehicles
