Training on Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) and Continuous Effluent Quality Monitoring System (CEQMS)

For environment professional

Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) and Continuous Effluent Quality Monitoring System (CEQMS) are mandatory for 17 categories of industries and common pollution treatment facilities in India. Grossly polluting industries also requires monitoring and reporting effluent quality on real time basis. Very soon, the real time data will become the basis for environmental compliance check replacing the existing system. CEMS and CEQMS are new technologies which are expensive and complex so challenges in correct device selection, correct installation, calibration, operation and maintenance and data acquisition and handling are well known.  Therefore industries, along with regulators and other associated stakeholders are required to ensure proper understanding and sufficient knowledge to implement correctly.

For industries, it is not only investment as risk but also the compliance status. Proper implementation of CEMS and CEQMS is not limited to installation alone. It also involves right device selection, right installation, calibration, operation, maintenance and data reporting. Better implementation and experience will not only ensure compliance but also enables process optimization benefits to industries.

This training programme is a capacity building initiative by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi towards successful implementation of real time monitoring in India.
