WORK OVERVIEW

The rural sanitation programme at CSE addresses the need of safe sanitation along with the treatment and reuse of solid and liquid waste. The team helps the national stakeholders to build regulatory and technical capacities for implementing safe and sustainable sanitation at village, block, district and state levels through in-depth research and advocacy. The team is also promoting safe sanitation for rural areas in global south.

CSE has built capacities of functionaries from Rajasthan, Karnataka, Sikkim and Assam on safe and sustainable sanitation in rural sanitation. As a part of initiative to support implementation, the team is helping state of Rajasthan to develop clean villages and schools.

CSE’s programme on rural sanitation pushes for safe sanitation. The programme advocates for appropriate and affordable toilet technology, availability of water and management of solid & liquid waste as the key steps to sustain an open defecation free state.
