CSE initiates mainstreaming sustainability in academic curricula of built environment courses in West Bengal region

Sustainable Buildings and Habitat Programme has entered into a MoU with Amity University West Bengal to provide knowledge support on mainstreaming sustainability in architecture course curriculum. 

Ms. AnumitaRoychowdhury, Executive Director, CSE signed the MoU with the Vice Chancellor of Amity University West Bengal, in the presence of Deputy Registrar, Amity University and Principal, Amity School of Architecture and Planning. She delivered a keynote to set pitch for a two-day workshop organised at Amity University Kolkata. 

Faculty and students were sensitized on the shifting paradigm of architecture and planning professions and the design techniques required to improve environmental performance of their projects. They well acknowledged the need to incorporate sustainability dimension through building and site level interventions in areas of energy efficiency, water and sanitation, waste management, mobility, air pollution, urban design and access, urban landscape and greens, etc.  

About 60 participantsfrom Kolkata region were trained on the recent reformative practices concerned with the built environment. The training sessions and content were much appreciated by the participants. 

Amity School of Architecture and Planning has launched Bachelors in Architecture course recently and is planning to launch Bachelors in Planning course in the upcoming Academic year. CSE will capacitate the school in designing and updating of their respective curricula so as to keep sustainability, adapting to climate change and disaster risk reduction at the core.
