ANIL AGARWAL MEDIA FELLOWSHIPS FOR SOUTH ASIA
The Anil Agarwal Fellowships for South Asia support the participation of students and development professionals from South Asia in all training programmes conducted by the Anil Agarwal Environment Training Institute.
These Fellowships have been instituted in the memory of Anil Agarwal, CSE's founder-director and a pioneer in India's environmental movement who spent his lifetime studying the relationship between environment and development and advocating policies that involve people in sustainable natural resource management.
A prolific writer and commentator, Agarwal has hundreds of articles and more than 20 books to his credit. Agarwal's efforts in environmental research and advocacy have been widely recognized, and he was the recipient of several international and national awards, including the prestigious Padma Bhushan, awarded by the Government of India. Eligibility
These prestigious Fellowships are meant to support the participation of two or three candidates from South Asian countries (Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, Myanmar and Bangladesh and Indian nationals), in each training programme conducted by the Anil Agarwal Environment Training Institute. Those that can apply include students, development professionals (NGOs/CBOs), development journalists/information managers, government representatives, and environmental lawyers, among others in the environment-development arena.
What is Covered
Full Fellowship
Full Fellowships cover most course expenses of participants, including travel to India and back, training fees, together with accommodation in Delhi for the duration of the course. Please note that we will host candidates in accommodation that is convenient and located close to the training venue.
Travel for Fellows presently residing/studying outside India: Return air travel (closest major airport from Fellow's residence or place of work to Delhi and back. No hopping flights. Cheapest airline & economy fare. CSE will book air tickets, whenever possible (Fellows should present their boarding passes and air tickets, together with a copy of their passports to the course coordinator when they reach Delhi).
Travel for Fellow recipients presently studying and/or residing in India: A/C III Tier return train fare from closest train station to recipient's present residence/place of work.
Visa Fee (Fellows will be reimbursed upon presentation of receipt)
Accommodation: CSE will book suitable accommodation for Fellows in Delhi for the duration of the course, located close to the training venue
Training/Course fees: All costs included in Fellowship
All costs towards course/training materials normally distributed to all course participants
All costs associated with field trips (boarding, lodging, travel, etc.)
Lunch, refreshments during training days at CSE
Exclusions and Exceptions:-
No Airport transfers provided
Hospitality for short-term courses: No meals (dinner & breakfast)
Hospitality for long-term courses: All meals included if staying in CSE hostel
No local transport provided
No per diem provided
Partial Fellowships
In addition, several Partial Fellowships are available, which will cover the accommodation and course training fees of selected candidates. In this case, participants will need to make their own arrangements for travel to India and back, and are also expected to cover the costs of their own food and local transport while in Delhi.

Selection Procedure, Criteria
Candidates will need to send a detailed letter to AAETI (contact address below), stating their interest in attending a particular AAETI course, specifically, why they wish to attend and how it will benefit their own work / organization's development effort in their country, together with their detailed resume / CV. All decisions taken by the Fellowships Committee are final.

KAMLA CHOWDHRY FELLOWSHIPS
The Anil Agarwal Environment Training Institute (AAETI) offers students/young professionals the prestigious Kamla Chowdhry Fellowships to support their participation in "Agenda for survival: A summer certificate course on policies, politics and practices of environmental management in India".
Eligibility
These prestigious fellowships will be awarded to select candidates. Preference will be given to outstation candidates to cover a part of their stay costs in Delhi and to support their participation in the course.
The Fellowship is supported by a generous endowment from the late Dr Kamla Chowdhry, who played a critical role in India's environmental movement and deeply influenced international development efforts.
Dr Chowdhry helped establish many premier institutes of research and learning in India, including IIM-Ahmedabad, Institute of Rural Management, Anand, National Foundation of India, and the Society for the Promotion of Wastelands Development, among others.
A distinguished academic and an ardent Gandhian, Dr Chowdhry's multifaceted interests spanned issues relating to forestry, ecology, environment, women's rights and people's participation.
