CSE engages educators on the Green Campus Initiative

Date: 31 January 2020
Venue: Anil Agarwal Environment Training Institute

CSE's Habitat Programme engaged around 70 educators from across India at the National Knowledge Conclave at AAETI. The team introduced a green campus audit system to the educators belonging to varied disciplines that allows them to measure their campuses' efforts for sustainability. The system lays the foundation for a campus green audit that is based on relativity of achievements and progress made by the campuses. This system rewards campuses for their efforts and is more accountable than the current check-box type audit instruments. The entire process inculcates campus inhabitants with basic education on how to bring sustainability in our surroundings.

The team launched a compendium of good sustainability practices that is based on the same principles of the green audit (available on https://www.cseindia.org/a-green-campus-compendium-9902). It features campuses with distinct characteristics such as Gargi College - a landlocked campus located in the heart of Delhi; Assam Don Bosco - located in a hilly terrain; Guru Nanak Dev University - a campus of massive scale with 500 acres area, among others.
