Regional Conference: Interpreting Good Practices to Drive Clean Air Action Under NCAP

The National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), now in its fifth year, has catalysed multi-sector action across non attainment cities through a convergence framework that aligns with key urban schemes such as Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, 15th Finance Commission recommendations, and other urban renewal programmes. This has helped integrate clean air goals with broader agendas of urban development, resilience, and sustainability.

Evidence of good practices is steadily emerging across sectors from mobility management, construction and demolition waste management to strategies for mitigating heat as a co-benefit. These practices are helping cities shape responses that are not only pollution redu- cing, but also climate-adaptive and inclusive.

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is convening a regional forum with the Karnataka Regional Chapter, Institute of Town Planners India that will bring together policymakers, implementing agencies, practitioners, planners, financial experts, and industry representatives to assess these practices, examine their design and delivery models, and explore how they can be scaled up across the country. As the clean air agenda evolves, so must our implementation strategies, towards actions that are both impactful and resilient.
