SBM-Urban and CSE launches Practitioner’s Guide on Septage Management

The Guide will act as a ready reckoner for ULBs of 131 flagship cities (identified for implementing effective FSSM) and other urban centres across India for implementing Faecal Sludge Management. Joint Secretary SBM and Mission Director Praveen Prakash (IAS) agreed to send out the practitioner's guide to all State SBM and AMRUT directors as well as flagship ULBs across country. Ministry also requested CSE to translate the guide in Hindi for wider circulation and uptake.   

CSE to release its report on water and sewage management in Indian cities - including Bhopal and other cities of MP

Date: 6th July, 2012 Venue: Hotel Lakeview Ashok, Shamla Hills CSE invites you to the official release of the report in Bhopal. Shivraj Singh Chauhan, chief minister, Madhya Pradesh will do the honours. Sunita Narain, director general of CSE, will make a presentation. The release would be followed by a panel discussion involving some of the key policy makers and civil society representatives from the city (see details below). Sewage treatment a huge challenge in Thiruvananthapuram

The 7th State of India's Environment report, Excreta Matters, was released in Thiruvananthapuram on 11th of May 2012 at the 49th annual conference of the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad at the Government Higher Secondary School, Manakkad. Sunita Narain, director general of the Centre for Science and Environment was invited to inaugurate the conference, and the first copy of the two-volume report was given to former Forest Minister Benoy Viswom.

Agra is growing, but for how long?

Excreta Matters CSE's 7th State of India Environment Report, Excreta Matters, was released, debated and discussed in Agra at seminar held at the Karyakaari sabha kaksh (Agra Nagar Nigam) on May 5, 2012. The meet was attended by 50 people, including the Agra District Collector Ajay Chauhan, Member of Parliament from Agra Ram Shankar, the general managers of the Uttar Pradesh Jal Sansthan and UP Jal Nigam, the regional officer of UP Pollution Control Board, as well as civil society representatives and concerned citizens.
