Lucknow, December 20, 2012 The Media Resource Centre organised a half a day media workshop on sustainable Buildings in Lucknow in collaboration with Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Buses provide the bulk of public transport services in many Indian cities. Its share in daily travel in bigger cities can be as high as 40-60 per cent. Cities are looking at bus transport reforms to reduce auto mobile dependence, congestion, and pollution. Cities like Delhi are setting such high targets as 80 per cent public transport share by 2020, but such a goal can be met only if bus transport is scaled up.

Pollution in Sonbhadra area is not new and has been talked about for many years but no action has been taken to check the pollution. This has led to long term health impacts which have now started to show up in the population of the region. CSE took up a study to look at these health impacts and to investigate the possible causes.

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) India and Work for Better Bangladesh trust (WBB) Bangladesh jointly organised a day long workshop on lake conservation in Dhaka on September 26, 2012. The workshop was attended by regulators, researchers, environmental lawyers and prominent NGOs from India and Bangladesh. The meeting was a second of its kind to influence the policy debate on lakes in South Asia. The first such meeting was organised in August 2011 by CSE and Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) in Dhaka.
CSE in collaboration with Samrakshan Trust, a local NGO working in Meghalaya, organised two workshops (Shillong and Tura) on illegal mining and rat hole mining in the state of Meghalaya.
